Marty

Resident tech genius Christopher W. Marty was rescued from a bartending job by Rusted Rhino due to his innate gifts for research and problem solving. He designed the entire system used by Rusted Rhino to produce films.  With no prior film experience, Christopher taught himself the finer points of pre-production planning and the many aspects of cinematography as well as camera operation and all stages of post-production. These skills were utilized daily in the making of both Dimension and The Half Life of Mason Lake, on which he served as cinematographer and primary camera operator. In addition, Christopher's musical talents (as a solo artist and leader of the band Fools Gladly) led to his composing of the music for both films.

Nevus

The final member to be added to the Rusted Rhino team, Nevus was originally brought in as a consultant in the final stages of pre-production for Dimension and proved himself invaluable immediately. With a background in creative writing and a knack for being one step ahead of everyone, he became the everyman and ultimate gap filler for the film. On set, he quickly became the de facto continuity expert and production manager.  After completing production, Nevus went to work writing The Half Life of Mason Lake, Rusted Rhino’s second feature film.  He makes his directing debut on it as well.

Easily the geekiest member of the Rusted Rhino phalanx, Don holds degrees in Biology/Biochemistry and Computer Science/Mathematics. Though headed toward a career in medicine, the pull of music and audio engineering was strong enough to make Don jump the white coat ship. Don has been writing electronic music since 1990 and has composed scores for numerous stage productions. Dimension was his first experience handling audio engineering on a film, an experience that utilized his physics and computer training to streamline the movie audio process to work within the parameters of a four person crew.

He now resides on San Francisco, CA, where he drowns his wishes in the sea.

Nate

Nathan Scott Timmerman did location and post-production audio on The Half Life of Mason Lake.  He was also the set photographer. His professional background as a studio engineer brought new polish and perfectionism to our dialogue and foley. This was his first foray into film audio, though you'd never know it by listening to the product. His fresh perspective generated new techniques that we will continue to use as long as we produce films.

Nathan currently resides in New York, N.Y. and is continuing his work as an engineer and photographer.

Matthew

As the former owner of Blue Green Technologies, Inc. (1987-1995), an environmental engineering firm, and Matilda (1995-2007), a Chicago bar and restaurant, Matthew Scott Harris spent the little spare time he found to write multiple screenplays. His unique perspective on the world led to a request by a Hollywood production company to take a brief hiatus from his businesses to work in Los Angeles as a script doctor. After spending time viewing the bureaucracy of Hollywood film production, Matthew decided to decline offers to option his scripts, sell his businesses, and form Rusted Rhino to make movies the way he thought they should be made: efficiently honest and independently pure. As the founder of Rusted Rhino and the writer, director and producer of Dimension, Matthew oversees every aspect of film production for Rusted Rhino.

Mary Kay Cook is a Producer on Dimension.  The only member of Rusted Rhino with any prior filmmaking experience (Stir of Echoes, Design) she was therefore invaluable in discerning between the modes of production that are efficient and those that are not.  Mary Kay ran auditions, scouted and secured locations, booked talent and managed union compliance.  She was also in charge of hair/makeup, wardrobe and craft services, as well as obtaining the proper insurance documents and film permits.  She portrays Mary in the film.

Mark Whitcomb was the mind behind the formation of the audio team for The Half Life of Mason Lake. A pedigreed studio owner and engineer, he and Nathan designed the system with which all audio for the film was captured, logged, and stored. Splitting time between the studio and the set, his experience, energy, and eye for detail were integral to the quality of the final product.

Mark lives in Madison, WI and is the owner and operator of dna Studios.

Dan Kunkel was the Assistant Director and Boom Operator on The Half Life of Mason Lake. Purely out of curiosity, he joined the team for the duration of the production and was integral to its succesful completion. With the fortunes he made as Boom Operator, he now spends his time in idle bliss on the north side of Chicago, setting trends and taking names.
